A Walk on the Beach

Tonight my sweet husband invited me out on a date!!  We went down to Waveland which is about 5 miles from our house.  We didn’t do anything fancy but just grabbed a quick burger and then headed for a walk on the beach.

You might remember that Waveland, MS is right where hurricane Katrina hit 2 years ago and we haven’t been on that beach since then so this was a real treat.

Our beach is a bit different from most places.  For one thing it is not commercialized.  You can park on the side of the road, cross the street and walk on the sand. . .

It is not crowded and very peaceful.  So I wanted to share some of the sights from our date.

This is the scene as we approached the water-nice gentle waves.  It was about 6PM, the weather was finally cooling down and a soft breeze made it very pleasant.

Footprints in the sand from the many seagulls and sandpipers that live at the beach.

This seagull is on one of the pilings for a pier that was destroyed during the hurricane.

This is what the pier looks like now.  You can see it extended quite a way into the water and all that remains are the pilings.

Continuing on down the beach we saw this sponge.  I have lived in this area most of my life and this is the first time I have seen a sponge down here.

Well, our feet were getting tired and it was time to turn around and head back to our car.

What a romantic, relaxing evening. So glad I could share it with you.
