Beignets, Anyone!!

One of the advantages of living close to New Orleans is the food.  Cafe Au Lait and Beignets are the famous offering at Cafe du Monde in the French Quarter.

Cafe Au Lait is half strong coffee and half milk-it is so good.  However, the real calling card of Cafe du Monde is the small, square donuts called beignets. . .

We don’t go to New Orleans unless we really have to (because of the crime) but we have a bedroom community between our home and the Big Easy called Slidell.  We took a ride to Slidell today and visited a place called the Beignet Station and, of course, we had to try them.

The Beignet Station is located in the renovated Amtrack Train Depot of Slidell.  They have turned the train station into a quaint area complete with park, playground and restaurants.

We had a good time eating, shopping and visiting in Slidell and you can be sure we will return!
