Our summer garden is just about over, there are just a couple plants left. This was our first attempt at vegetable gardening in a long time. We decided to go with container gardening rather than digging up the back yard. You might remember when we started our garden it was late in the spring so we bought plants rather than starting from seeds. . .
All that remains is one cherry tomato plant-pretty leggy but still a few tomatoes left on it.
There is also a couple yellow squash plants and they are still producing-not very much but we will get as much as we can out of them.
There is a green pepper plant left that has not produced anything yet, but hope springs eternal!
The surprise in our garden is this cucumber plant. It took forever for it to produce anything, it looks terrible and everyday we expect to see it has given up-but then we find another cucumber on it. So we continue to check it and care for it each day.
So the summer garden is over and we have started planting for the fall. The summer garden was not a financial success but we learned a lot and we now have some of the supplies we need for our future gardens.
