God created this world and everything in it to go through a cycle of life as described in Ecclesiastes 3:1-2a “To every [thing there is] a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die;…”
We know this to be true as we watch our aging bodies slowly (or sometimes not so slowly) lose the ability to do the things we could do in the past. Having a garden has really brought this truth home. . .to us, as we watch the fruits of our labor sprout, begin the struggle for life, grow, produce fruit and die.
This morning while walking in our garden we came across this evidence of the cycle of life.
This little guy had dropped in for a drink and died right on top of our marigold.
At first we thought he was just resting but he has been there for several hours now and we feel sure he has completed his life cycle.
What a vivid reminder to all of us that our cycle of life will also end one day and we should make the most of each and every moment the Lord blesses us with.
