Fall Folliage

The season is almost here for the beautiful colors of Fall to begin appearing.  We love traveling to our son’s home in South Carolina for our granddaughters’ birthdays in November because we usually drive through the peak color area.

The season of color change begins. . .in the northeast in early September and continues through early November in the south.  The shades of color represented in this annual event is truly a sight to behold.

The most vibrant colors are attributed to mild autumn days coupled with cool, crisp, but not freezing evenings.  These colors are best seen along the Appalachian Mountain chain.

Weather.com has a map that shows the location of the color change peak area.  The US Forest Service also tracks the line of color change.

We look forward to this annual trip not only for its beauty but also for the cooler weather but most of all because we get to celebrate our beautiful granddaughters birthday with them.
