My husband and I are not car people. We do not enjoy shopping for cars. We do not need our car to be new. Matter of fact, we tend to buy a car and drive it until it dies!! We do not like car payments. We do not like having to depend on a car starting each morning to get my husband to work.
However, what we like and what is reality are 2 different things. My husband works about 25 miles from home and it is mostly freeway driving; a car is not an option.
We currently own a 2003 Ford Escape with almost 200,000 miles on it. We are very high mileage drivers because we only own 1 car and it goes to work with hubby daily, takes us on vacations and runs errands with me.
This Escape has been a very good car for us; with 190,000 miles we have not had many problems at all. Of course, I remember very well the one time it broke down on me. You can read about that here.
As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end, and it is time for us to start shopping around for a new vehicle. We are not sure which direction this will take us and it is not a journey we enjoy, but we do need to be prepared for our well worn Escape saying its final goodbye. So our car shopping has begun!
