Last weekend we celebrated both of our granddaughters’ birthdays. Lydia turned 16 on November 7th and the 21st was Lauren’s 10th birthday. Lydia had celebrated her birthday earlier in the month with her friends but we did not get to attend. Our son and his family live in South Carolina and since they were coming to Mississippi for Thanksgiving we decided to do a double birthday party at our home for the girls.
Lydia let Lauren decide on the cake and she selected a Strawberry Shortcake Birthday Cake. I found a cute little Strawberry Shortcake doll and made a double layer cake. I decorated the cake in white, pink and green and put the doll on top. Lauren was very pleased with her cake.
We had invited a couple of friends over to celebrate with our oldest granddaughter and share in the goodies. Thanks to Sarah and Rebekah for making Lydia’s part of the celebration so special.
Each of the girls got a few gifts and had fun opening them. Lydia got clothes and a special ‘Sweet Sixteen’ necklace.
Lauren received the Madame Alexander doll I mentioned earlier. She was very excited when she saw how much her new doll looked like her. They both have dark, long, straight hair with bangs.
Then she opened the matching outfits for her and her new friend-this was one very happy birthday girl.
I think it is safe to say that even the boys enjoyed the party since they got to eat cake. So a good time was had by all and our oldest granddaughter is now officially sweet 16!
